The Essence of the Southwest

Nestled between the mountains and the majestic landscapes of the Sonoran Desert, Oro Valley, AZ, has become the heart of Loretta Rieth’s artistic expression. This talented artist has embarked on a remarkable journey that spans decades, fueled by an unwavering passion for capturing the beauty around her. From her early beginnings in Santa Barbara, CA, to the vibrant scenes of the Arizona desert, Loretta’s evolution as an artist is a captivating testament to creativity and resilience.

Loretta’s artistic path began in the fifth grade when a local artist opened her garage to young aspiring painters. Encouraged by this initiative, a spark ignited within her, propelling her into the world of oil painting. It was a formative experience that laid the foundation for her lifelong dedication to the arts. As she navigated through her young adulthood, Loretta explored various creative avenues, ultimately earning a Certificate in Graphic Design from OTIS College of Art and Design in Los Angeles in 2015. And in 2021, seeking new inspiration, Loretta relocated from the coastal charm of Redondo Beach to the expansive beauty of Oro Valley. Surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of the Sonoran Desert, she found a renewed purpose in her artistry. The vibrant colors, dramatic skies, and an array of plant life in this unique ecosystem became her muse. “I felt a profound sense of purpose in my artistry, as if the desert was calling me to develop my craft further,” Loretta reflects. This new chapter not only influenced her work but also rejuvenated her creative spirit, allowing her to delve deeper into her artistic identity.
