An artist of remarkable depth and emotional fluency, Beki Tobiasson’s ascent is not merely a testament to innate skill \u2014 though she possesses that in abundance \u2014 but to an audacious philosophy she wears like a signature brushstroke: “be dumb enough to try.” By day, a devoted mother; by night, an artist consumed by creation. Her home is full, her heart is fuller, and sleep always gives way to the irresistible call of the canvas.<\/span><\/p>

This disarmingly humble mantra belies the sophistication and emotional resonance of her work. Raised in an environment of exacting perfectionism, Beki Tobiasson witnessed firsthand how the fear of imperfection can paralyze even the most gifted. “I watched how perfectionism robbed them of life,” she reflects, with the clarity of someone who chose another path. Though fraught with inevitable self-doubt and rejection, that path became a liberating journey of embracing imperfection as a vital companion to creativity.<\/span><\/p>

Beki Tobiasson’s relentless pursuit was rewarded in Hearts Turning, her luminous piece selected for the prestigious International Art Show, opening in April 2025 at the Church History Museum. Out of over 1,300 submissions, only 150 were chosen \u2014 a testament to the emotive power and masterful execution of her work. Her painting captures a circle of ancestors, hand in hand, both earthly and celestial, engaged in joyous dance. It is a visual hymn to the interconnectedness of generations, inspired by her ancestors’ unseen yet profoundly felt presence guiding her through life. “I felt them laugh with me, dance with me, rejoice with me,” she says, her voice carrying the quiet conviction of someone who paints not for perfection, but for communion.<\/span><\/p>

Her artistic journey,<\/span> however, has not been without trials. Twice rejected from the same show, Beki Tobiasson refused to yield. “Every time we try, we learn a little bit more,” she insists.<\/span><\/p>

Through years of disciplined study \u2014 even when the canvas defied her intentions \u2014 she transformed frustration into refinement and vulnerability into virtuosity.<\/span><\/p>

Today, Beki Tobiasson’s work transcends mere visual appeal. From her molten, textured encaustics to storm-laden oil landscapes, every piece embodies a narrative of resilience and quiet triumph. Her art invites us to consider that beauty often emerges not despite our imperfections but because of them. With an unyielding thirst for knowledge, she studied at the JKR Academy, while simultaneously learning from Dan Wilson, and a guided mentorship with Casey Childs. She attends every available workshop, and drinks in the experience of others.<\/span><\/p>

She encourages those still hesitating at the edge of their dreams: “Let go of perfection. Be bold enough, or simply dumb enough, to try.”<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
