This iconic fruity NOLA cocktail will transport you to Bourbon Street. The hurricane cocktail was invented in New Orleans by bar owner Pat O’Brien during World War II when the supply of whiskey was very low. Pat created this cocktail to use up his store of rum, and it was a hit!\u00a0<\/p>

The drink is named after the glass it’s served in that is shaped like a hurricane lamp.\u00a0<\/p>

Today, you can still sit in Pat’s legendary courtyard and try out the original recipe. You can find a Hurricane almost anywhere around the city.\u00a0<\/p>

INGREDIENTS<\/b><\/p>

  • 2 oz. light rum<\/li>
  • 3 oz. dark rum<\/li>
  • 6 oz. passion fruit juice<\/li>
  • 6 oz. orange juice<\/li>
  • 1\/2 oz. lime juice<\/li>
  • 2 tbsp. grenadine<\/li>
  • 1 tbsp. simple syrup<\/li>
  • Ice<\/li><\/ul>

    Garnish<\/b><\/p>

    • 2 orange slices<\/li>
    • 2 maraschino cherries<\/li><\/ul>

      Directions<\/b><\/p>

      • Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker.<\/li>
      • You can stir or shake. It’s up to you.<\/li>
      • Garnish and serve.<\/li><\/ul>

        Options<\/b><\/p>
