St. George Reimagined

Mayor Michele Randall Achievements and Ambitions for 2024

St. George, nestled into the heart of southern Utah, is a thriving community of equal parts technological progress and cozy, family-orientated charm. Helmed by Mayor Michele Randall, St George had one of its best years yet. We were lucky enough to get the inside scoop with our great mayor, and she has a couple of things to say about the 2023 year that has just drawn to a close.

“We are so proud of our work in 2023

We appointed a new City Manager who is doing a fantastic job, a new Energy Services Director, and a new Community Development Director.

We broke ground for a new City Hall and continue to widen 3000 East and much more! On the ballot, the residents overwhelmingly passed the General Obligation Trails, Parks, and Recreation Bond, which will bring many great quality-of-life projects to our City. And I look forward to that next year!”

2024 has the potential to be the best year yet for our beautiful City, and that starts with the economic future, which is just on our horizon.

When asked about what Mayor Randall would like to see come of her City this year, she said,

“I’d like to see us continue diversifying our economy through Tech Ridge, manufacturing in the Ft Pierce Industrial Park, a sound film and television stage (announced by Kevin Costner), and a partnership with Brett Burgess.

Of course, we’d like to see more retail and restaurants.” The mayor also can’t wait for more people to see our wonderful City. Mayor Randall remarks on how clean and safe the City is and how the residents are kind and service-oriented.

And especially how they appreciate hard work and are selfless in the community. For someone visiting the beauty of St. George for the first time, Mayor Randall hopes they will love the breathtaking beauty of Zion National Park and Snow Canyon State Park just as much as she does. She shared with us that her family’s favorite spot is their family cabin in Pinto.

Besides the beautiful outdoors, Mayor Michele Randall mentioned a few events for the first part of 2024 that you will want to attend, whether you are a long-time resident or in town for the first time.

The 42nd edition of the Virgin River Half Marathon is set for January 13 at 9 a.m., beginning and ending in front of the Dixie Convention Center.

And remember Heritage Day (January 20), where you’ll commemorate the City’s birthday each year by preparing free root beer floats at the Social Hall starting at noon.

There are several other celebrations planned, so make sure to check out the free admission to the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center, St. George Recreation Center, and St. George Art Museum, and free rides all day on SunTran buses, the train at Thunder Junction, and the St. George Carousel for our beautiful City’s 162nd birthday!

The mayor will host the State of the City address on February 13 at 3 p.m. at the Dixie Convention Center’s Garden Room. What she is most excited about is the St. George Art Festival.

A can’t-miss event from March 29-30 that demonstrates Spring has arrived in St. George. We hope you are as excited as we and the mayor are, as we look forward to this year.
